Speaker: David Paddock, Schlumberger-Retired, Paddock Geophysical

Ant Tracking is a swarm-intelligence technology that can identify subtle fault features on surface seismic data and can even be used to automatically pick faults.  New users struggle to generate Ant Track cubes of sufficient quality to be used in field development operations.  The presentation will provide a review of the uses for Ant Track cubes and a primer in data preparation and parameter selection.  Although not a substitute for Schlumberger’s week-long Ant Track training regimen, this one hour primer should help aspiring Ant Trackers better strategize and parameterize their projects.

Speaker Biography: David Paddock, Schlumberger-Retired, Paddock Geophysical
David Paddock retired in 2020 at the advisor level from Schlumberger WesternGeco’s North American Onshore Unconventionals Exploration team, having served since 2007 as the primary architect of Schlumberger’s surface seismic solution set for unconventional resources.  Within the context of this talk, he is recognized by industry as the leading expert in the application of Ant Tracking, a detailed seismic fault identification application widely utilized, particularly in the development of unconventional resources.
