Speaker: Anna Titova, Colorado School of Mines

A recently acquired densely sampled 3D surface dataset from the Powder River Basin, Wyoming, was evaluated for seismic wavefield sampling research purposes with a focus on compressive sensing. It is seen from this dataset that processing this data can be challenging. In this talk, we share our observations and learnings from this dataset. In addition, we discuss various aspects of nonuniform sampling and super-resolution in the Fourier domain and their relation to typical compressive sensing reconstruction algorithms. The investigated tools help us devise a surface wave removal procedure capable of handling the near offsets. We believe this approach is valuable since it can address different wave modes and rapid variations of the near offset amplitudes that are important for processing seismic data.

Speaker Biography:  Anna Titova, Colorado School of Mines

Anna Titova received her bachelor's and master's degrees in physics from Saint Petersburg University.
