In the Permian Basin of Texas, USA, the majority of new seismic acquisition is constrained by land access restrictions. We discuss the acquisition challenges and processing results for surface-seismic surveys and demonstrate how adopting a new high-density acquisition and ‘azimuth-aware’ broadband processing strategy provide a step change in seismic data quality. Important geological insights derived from the new data have had a material impact on economic and risk assessments and the development plans for prospects in this area. 

Speaker Biographies:
Richard Hearn, WesternGeco:  Richard Hearn graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada with a B.Sc in Geophysics and Mathematics. He began his career with Schlumberger as a Wireline Field Engineer in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. During his 15+ year career with Schlumberger, he has worked in various positions in operations, seismic processing, sales and management. Richard is an author and co-author of several publications for SPE, SEG, EAGE etc. Richard is currently the North America Land?Exploration Lead for WesternGeco. 

Vasudhaven (Sudha) Sudhakar, Schlumberger: Vasudhaven (Sudha) Sudhakar has over forty years of proven experience in the oil and gas industry, both domestically and internationally. With strong management experience and technical expertise in integration of geological and geophysical data, he has a proven track record managing turnarounds, new ventures, and business growth. He is a results-oriented professional with experience in successful research and development projects, holds three patents and numerous publications. His current role is Unconventionals New Ventures Business Development Lead.
