Speaker: Dustin Blymyer, Oxy

While there have been successful applications of compressive sensing (CS) seismic acquisition, the technology is still relatively new and many seismic processing contractors only have experience with regularly sampled, conventional data. For this trial, we acquired 108 square kilometers of CS data to determine (1.) if CS data can be successfully reconstructed by a commercial contractor, (2.) if CS allows for better suppression of scattered surface wave noise for similar acquisition cost as a conventional dataset, and (3.) if CS can produce similar quality data to conventional acquisition for a reduced acquisition cost.

Speaker Biography: Dustin Blymyer, Oxy
Dustin Blymyer received a B.S. in physics from The University of Texas and a M.S. in subsurface geoscience from Rice University. He previously worked at FairfieldNodal in Sugar Land, Texas. He currently holds a position as Senior Geophysicist with Oxy specializing in seismic data processing.
