Times are tough in the oil patch. We all need to discover and produce efficiently, in order to survive and ultimately flourish. 3D seismic is our most potent superpower in this endeavor, but every 3D survey represents a significant investment. Smart survey planning is the key to any successful 3D project.

Survey design requires a delicate balance of often conflicting requirements to

  A) Deliver adequate imaging quality
  B) Minimize cost
  C) Meet health, safety and environmental objectives

The challenge of optimizing for these objectives is often exacerbated by environmental constraints (bathymetry, limited surface access etc) and operational issues, such as the number of available receivers, battery life, streamer length etc. Smart survey design must also be sensitive to available acquisition and processing technologies including simultaneous source, 5D interpolation, FWI etc.

ACTeQ was formed in 2016 to address the industry need to perform these complex survey design optimizations for land, marine streamer, ocean bottom nodes and hybrid projects. ACTeQ now offers survey design services and licenses its TesserACT software to a number of oil and gas companies, service providers and consultancies. ACTeQ is now expanding its offering to address in field quality control and project management. Through its partnership with Z-Terra, ACTeQ also offers wave equation based illumination studies.

After a brief introductory presentation, most of this event will be a live demonstration of TesserACT, with plenty of time for questions at the end.

Presenter Biography: Damian Hite, Founder and CEO, ACTeQ
Damian Hite graduated from the Florida Institute of technology with a BS in Offshore Engineering in 1997. He worked in several operations and technical management roles with CGG-Veritas until he joined EMGS in 2011. At EMGS, Damian was a lead project manager, and developed a game changing 3D CSEM survey planning and operational analysis package. He founded ACTeQ in 2016 and remains its CEO and Lead Developer.

Presenter Biography: Dave Ridyard, Co-Founder and Advisor, ACTeQ
Dave Ridyard graduated from the University of Durham (England) in 1980 with a BSc in Applied Physics, and worked with GSI in several offshore, R&D and technical sales roles until 1989, when he founded QC Tools. QC Tools developed a number of innovative software tools for field data quality control. QC Tools was acquired by ION in 1994, where Dave took on a number of roles in engineering, marketing and investor relations. In 2005, Dave accepted the position of President (Americas) for EMGS. Dave was the driving force in moving CSEM from 2D to 3D, and managed successful campaigns in Canada, USA, Mexico and Brazil creating revenues in excess of $0.5Bn. He retired in 2016, and promptly joined Damian at the foundation of ACTeQ.
