GSH Geoscience Outreach Center Challenge

There is a new opportunity to support the GSH Geoscience Center.  Scott Petty, Jr., Mike Forrest, Lee Lawyer, and Tom Smith, as sponsors, have pledged donations totaling $10,000.00 to set a goal for the Challenge.  Donors will be recognized in our “Friends of the Geoscience Center” listing near the Geoscience Center entrance.  Financial support will continue to be solicited from companies.  Donations can be made through the GSH website by using the “Donate” button (located on this page, scroll down)  or checks may be sent to the GSH office at 14811 St. Mary’s Lane, Suite 204, Houston, TX, 77079, with a note that the donation is for the Geoscience Center Challenge.  The GSH is a 501(C)3 organization.  Also, check to see if your company has a matching donation program and if so, those funds will be included in the Challenge.

The GSH has established a Geoscience Center and Museum in West Houston. This facility is used to store, maintain and refurbish geophysical artifacts in the museum collection that are not presently on display at other locations. Additionally, the Center holds workshops for teachers and includes resources to create interactive displays, hands-on activities, educational materials for school career days, classroom presentations, scouting fairs, science fairs, or other opportunities for interaction with students. For more information or to serve on the GSH Museum committee, please contact Bill Gafford at [email protected] or at 281-620-6156.

Geoscience Center hours:  Wednesday mornings from 9:00 until 12:00 (noon), or by appointment. (Contact Bill Gafford at [email protected])

The Geoscience Center and Museum includes artifacts and materials from the 1920’s forward and accepts donations of materials, instruments and documents related to the history of geophysical and geological exploration as well as periodicals from various companies and organizations.  Financial support for the Geoscience Center is always welcome too.

Donations can be made through the GSH website home page by using the “Donate” button, or through the “Donate Now” button below, or checks may be sent to the GSH office at 14811 St. Mary’s Lane, Suite 204, Houston, TX, 77079, with a note that the donation is for the Geoscience Center.  Also, check to see if your company has a matching donation program.  The GSH is a 501 ( C ) 3 organization.
